McDougal GSL "Dinner with Strangers," lets you meet and dine with people from outside your department and friend circle. The event kicks off with a social hour in the McDougal Center Common Room (HGS, 320 York St.) featuring sodas, beer, wine, and light appetizers (5:30 - 6:30 pm) before we match you up with your group members and send you out to one of the following New Haven restaurant for dinner: Atticus Cafe, Basta Trattoria, Claire's Corner Copia, Thali Too, Oaxaca, Miya's.
All local restaurants are offering special discounts for our participants! Some will offer a set price menu, while others offer a special discount on your order, so please bring cash or credit card to pay for your food, drinks, tax and tip as needed. Some places are more vegetarian/vegan friendly- check their menus at http://www.infonewhaven.com .
When signing up for the event, please elect your top 3 picks from 6 restaurants and we will group you based on these preferences - though our priority will be on having no more than 2 people from the same department or school in any group and on accommodating people on a first-come, first-serve basis based on ticket purchase time. Tickets for the event are only $3 plus service fee to reserve your space and help cover part of the reception costs; participants pay the cost of dinner individually.
